This month, the Geopark funded training in archive management for 21 historians representing local history societies from in and around Charnwood Forest. The training, led by an experienced archival consultant, was designed to help local groups to manage and care for material within their own archives. It included sessions on storing and preserving documents, handling and packaging collections, and digitisation. Feedback from the two sessions suggests that delegates found the training to be very valuable. We hope that this initiative will help local societies to preserve important local historical material for future generations.
This training was supported by our funding from the National Lottery Heritage Fund.
